Let us walk you through what a rebuilt title really means—and how our process ensures you

A rebuilt title is issued to a vehicle that was previously declared a “total loss” by an insurance company—often due to accident damage, theft recovery, or weather-related issues like hail or flooding. But here’s the catch: not all total loss vehicles are actually unsafe or beyond repair. Many are structurally sound and fully restorable with the right repairs.
After professional repairs and a successful inspection, the vehicle can be legally driven again and is given a rebuilt title by the state of Florida. This indicates the vehicle was salvaged, repaired, and officially approved for use on public roads.
At Car By Stash, we take great pride in how we restore vehicles from salvage status to road-ready condition. Here’s how it works:
1. Sourcing from Insurance Auctions
We begin by hand-selecting vehicles from trusted insurance auctions. Our team inspects each vehicle’s damage and overall condition before purchasing. We focus on finding cars with solid frames and repairable damage—not junk or irreparably compromised vehicles. We avoid cars with flood damage simply because they can be very unpredictable years down the road.
2. Professional Repairs at Our Collision Center
Once the car arrives at our facility, it goes through a thorough in-house rebuild. Usually all the necessary parts are delivered around the same time the car is. Our team is equipped to handle everything from cosmetics and body work to mechanical repairs and system checks. We don’t cut corners—our goal is to bring the vehicle back to its best condition and to avoid having a customer return to us with issues.
3. Tested for Performance and Safety
After the rebuild, each vehicle is rigorously test-driven and quality-checked. We inspect brakes, steering, suspension, engine performance, electrical systems, and more. If it doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t move on. ( Once the vehicles are offered for sale, we will still drive the vehicles intermittently so they don’t just *sit* on the lot)
4. Recall work is mandatory, Alignment work is common
Before we can submit any paperwork to the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, we must check for any recalls on the vehicle. If one should pop up, the vehicle is taken to a dealership that is contracted to do recall work. In addition to any recall works, most of our vehicles end up getting an alignment check at a local tire shop.
5. Florida State Rebuilt Title Inspection
Next, the vehicle is taken to an official state inspection site in Florida. Only after passing this detailed inspection does it receive its rebuilt title and a pink sticker on the door jamb making it legal and safe to be registered and driven again.
6. Offered for Sale to the Public
Once a car passes all tests and inspections, we proudly offer it for sale on our lot. It is meticulously detailed and photographed. Every vehicle comes with full transparency, a carfax, photos of pre-repair condition (when available), and information about the work performed
